New website…
By · CommentsThe Geneseo Park District is pleased to present our new web site. We took an important step in our technology growth as an organization. The new web site offers a more dynamic space for Park District staff and the community to share information and collaborate. Surf the site for familiar information and be on the look out for something new. Below are a few helpful hints about the site…the site is constructed of pages, posts, and links.
Pages are found in the navigation bar at the top of the screen and in the sidebar. Pages are designed to house ’static’ information. Pages do not change very often.
Posts can be found in the sidebar and will keep the site dynamic and a good reason to visit frequently. Each post can be assigned multiple ‘categories’ and ‘tags.’ Categories and tags help tie the site together using keywords. This is a beneficial feature as it doesn’t impose a rigid navigation scheme on the user. Essentially, you can get to the same informaton in a variety of ways. Categories and tags help make this happen. To understand posts, think of a traditional bulletin board. As we go to post a document on that physical board, you have to create it, print it and post it. It is based on the idea that someone walks down the hallway at the Center and stops at the board to review important information. With traditional bulletin boards, you have to take down the document and file it away never to be seen again. The benefit of our new web site is that online posts can be viewed from any computer and are archived indefinitely.
Links can be accessed on the sidebar and serve as a useful collection of relevant links. Position your cursor over words and images to hyperlink to other pages and sites. Hyperlinks are words that are underlined and/or if you position your cursor over a word, the word will change color. The top navigation bar and sidebar are useful tools to navigate the site. There is search functionality
This is an important step, but only the first. We are actively developing and testing the use of online forms to survey and register users. This is a 2010 goal for our organization. Stay tuned to developments on this front. If you have any questions/concerns/feedback…feel free to email mradue@geneseo.net. Enjoy the site.

GYB Girl’s Recreational League
By · CommentsGeneseo Youth Basketball Girl’s Recreational League – 5th & 6th grades
Reminder…If school dismisses early today, we will cancel all games & practices and reschedule. Most likely we would try to add those games in on Saturday, Feb. 13th.
I have team/individual pictures available. Referee Jackie will bring photos for teams playing tonight at the GMS (Comets, Storm, Mercury, Sparks). Coaches practicing tonight can pick them up at the Community Center front desk.
Monday, Feb. 8th…Practice is scheduled at the Community Center tonight. Start times were improperly listed. The Sky & Fever should start at 5:30 pm…the Liberty & Shock should start at 6:30 pm
Tuesday, Feb. 9th …Practices scheduled at the GFAC on this night have been moved to Southwest Elementary to accommodate a high school basketball makeup game.
The format for this Saturday’s games (2/13/10) will remain the same with games at 1:00 & 2:00 pm at the GFAC. Row 13 Sports will be on site to sell 2010 February Frenzy commemorative t-shirts. Players can reserve their t-shirt by emailing Justin Snodgrass snod14@hotmail.com . Deadline for pre-ordering is Wednesday, Feb. 10th at Noon. T-shirts are $14, they are purple with the GYB logo on the front, and the February Frenzy logo on the back. Supplies are limited. Customization (names/numbers) are optional and at an additional charge.
Players should bring a change of clothes to Saturday’s games so that they can turn in their uniform after the game. The Center has laundry facilities…I would rather have the uniform and wash it, then have to wait for it and track it down later. Coaches: I will make a garbage bag available for each team. If you have the extra uniforms, be sure to bring those too.
